CRAFT-MAKING PARTY
Friday, November 21, 2008

Admission to the Nov. 21 Fall Craft-making will be one craft per family that 30+ students can assemble.  You may collect something home-made or store-bought.  While you are traveling or doing your summer/fall activities, think of items that could be used:  seashells, seedpods, sweetgum balls, rocks, popsicle sticks, felt, construction paper, glitter, pipe cleaners, pompom balls, etc.

Create your own craft idea, or find something off the internet or in a library book.  Crafts can relate to any time of the year; they do not need to be holiday-related.  Contact cureton@rollanet
with your questions and your family's idea.

Graduation
The Hall, McClanahan, Studt, and Walters families have joined together to honor their children's completion of high school with a graduation ceremony, and would like to extend an invitation to the CHESS community to join them in the celebration.

The graduation service will be held Saturday, May 24th, at 11 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rolla. It will be followed by a light lunch reception.

In order to adequately plan, we would appreciate an RSVP if you are planning to attend this event. In addition, we would appreciate anyone who would be willing to bring something to share at the reception. Please contact Dawn Hall at halls8@embarqmail.com or 573-364-4858 to RSVP and/or to let her know how you can help with the reception.

Students, Families, and Group Classes, you are invited to register for the Student Showcase Night, which will be a family-friendly time for sharing your talents and your projects.

No prizes will be awarded, as this is not a competition.

Talent Show: Sing a song, read a poem, play an instrument, give a demonstration, juggle, recite a verse or Bible passage, and perform other family-friendly talents.

Showcase Projects: Display a photograph scrapbook, clothing, art work, crafts, science project, geography maps, models, research papers, reports, creative writing, inventions, needlework, project binders, photographs of livestock or pets, baked goods, and other work/projects you have completed this year or in recent years.

No project is too big or too small. Items from preschoolers to adults may be displayed to stimulate and inspire all ages! Items can be very simple to something more elaborate. Ability does not matter, for God uses all things to make an impact on others. The point of the night is to encourage each person.

Past projects have included bug collections, Legos, robotics, train displays, dresses, child-written books, painted rocks, carvings, paintings, jewelry displays, science fair projects about the weather, miniature raft, mosaics, display of items from nature, clothing, crocheting, and many, many others.

Hope you will all spread the word and be there to encourage and be encouraged by our area homeschooling families.
